Bio

Peter Detzner is an acting department head at the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics since July 2024. He dedicates his research topics related to self-organized intralogistics, modular Industry 4.0 architectures, and decentral organized communication based on peer-to-peer networks. Since July 2024 he is also the acting head of Artificial Intelligence and Autonomous System. From March 2019 to June 2019, Peter was a visiting researcher at the Industry 4.0 Lab at the School of management of Politecnico di Milano, Italy. Prior to his work at the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics he worked for several companies and has more than 14 years of experience in software development, most of them in home automation and industrial automation. He has a M.Sc. in electric and computer engineering from the Fern Universität Hagen, Germany, and a B.Sc. in computing & networks from the University of Abertay in Dundee, Scotland. He received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical University of Dortmund in 2023. Peter Detzner is holder of several patents in the field of home automation and human machine interfaces.
